Legend-Alexander The Great

Alexander III of Macedon, commonly known as Alexander the Great, was famous for his military power and is a legendary figure in history. He was educated by Aristotle and became king in 336 BC .Continual military success enabled him to become the foremost leader in Greece and replace Darius III as ruler of the mighty Persian empire. His victory over the Indian king Porus extended his conquests farther eastwards and established his empire as the greatest ever achieved by one man .

-Alexander died in Babylon in 323 BC.

He founded some twenty cities that bore his name, most notably Alexandria in Egypt.

-Alexander developed a passion for the works of Homer, and in particular the Iliad.

-Alexander was erudite and patronized both arts and sciences. However, he had little interest in sports or the Olympic games (unlike his father), seeking only the Homeric ideals of honour (timê) and glory (kudos).
